Marvel has just released a brand-new trailer for Spider-Man 4: Brand New Day, and it looks like the franchise is taking a leap forward.
After a first trilogy fully helmed by Jon Watts that quietly raked in over $3 billion at the global box office, it’s now Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) who takes the reins of the web-slinger. Titled Brand New Day, this fourth installment lands with heavyweight expectations, aiming not only to match its predecessors but also to lay down the groundwork for the duology Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars.
Even with a new director, Marvel has kept the familiar core trio—Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon—while loading the cast with a slew of high-profile cameos. We’ll see Mark Ruffalo return as Bruce Banner, Jon Bernthal back in the Punisher’s bulletproof vest, and Sadie Sink, whose casting rumors point to Jean Grey. And after a campaign of Spider-Man 4 posters that were, frankly, some of the ugliest in memory, a bona fide new trailer has just dropped.
Spider-Man Is Coming for Dinner Tonight
The previous trailer had teased Peter Parker’s gradual mutation, increasingly tied to his spider genetics. This new trailer makes the move toward the Dark Side unmistakable, with that metamorphosis sparked by the brutal first clash against the Scorpion.
The hero thus seeks Bruce Banner’s help to try and rein in his impulses, aided by the familiar handy science MacGuffin the professor has already set up for himself. Unfortunately, the film’s still-mysterious main antagonist unleashes mind-control powers that reach even to Hulk.
The distance Peter tried to keep from MJ and Ned seems to have shrunk considerably, as the former love interest of the wall-crawler is put in harm’s way once again. Does that signal a return to square one after No Way Home’s only bold narrative move? Perhaps. In any case, these fresh images suggest that, despite Marvel’s still rigid framework, Destin Daniel Cretton and his team appear to be having far more visual fun with Spider-Man’s powers than Jon Watts did.
And that might be enough to win us over amid a glut of cameos and a PG-13 Punisher. Just a few weeks remain before we see whether this chaotic, joyous spectacle lives up to the promise of the summer’s ultimate blockbuster. Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits U.S. theaters on July 29, 2026.
