The Shelby family saga continues, despite the end of Peaky Blinders and the film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal, with an unnamed spin-off series. A new portion of the cast has been unveiled.
If one could have expected the film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal to mark the end of the Shelby family’s adventures, the line of succession to Thomas, played by Cillian Murphy since 2013, is, on the contrary, secured. It will be up to his children, and more specifically to Duke, played by Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, Rocketman) and Charles, played by Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), to carry the torch in a new series Peaky Blinders, currently without an official title.
Alongside them, Ned Dennehy (Outlander) and Packy Lee (Pixie), already part of Peaky Blinders, will return in the roles of Charlie Strong and Johnny Dogs. They will be joined by new faces: Jessica Brown Findlay (Silo), Lashana Lynch (Chacal), and Lucy Karczewski (who will make her TV debut after her triumph on the stage in Stereophonic). And the cast keeps growing, as more high-profile actors have just been announced.
Peaky Blinders en grande compagnie
La BBC et Netflix ont dévoilé plusieurs nouveaux acteurs pour la suite de Peaky Blinders comme Conleth Hill (connu notamment pour le personnage de Lord Varys dans Game of Thrones), Daniel Monks (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, All Her Fault) et Cal O’Driscoll (Video Nasty et aperçu dans Vikings: Valhalla). On en sait également plus sur le rôle qu’ils auront dans ce récit qui prendra place peu de temps après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, à une période où il est plus que nécessaire de reconstruire les villes ravagées par la guerre. C’est le cas notamment de Birmingham, qui sera le théâtre de nouvelles luttes pour le pouvoir entre familles.
Et justement, on découvrira du côté des rivaux des Shelby le patriarche Clemmy Keeler (Conleth Hill) et son fils, Aidan Keeler (Cal O’Driscoll). Face aux gangsters, on retrouvera l’inspecteur Bell (Daniel Monks), à moins qu’il ne soit en réalité un complice ? D’autres rôles restent à définir, comme ceux des acteurs Samuel Bottomley (How to Have Sex, California Schemin’) ou Arturo Muselli (Gomorra), ainsi que Eugene Collins (The Bay) et Lucie Shorthouse (We Are Lady Parts) qui sont encore peu, voire pas connus en France.
Pour le moment, aucune date de sortie n’a été dévoilée pour la série qui fera suite à Peaky Blinders : L’immortel et dont le tournage a débuté en mars dernier. On sait tout de même que deux saisons de six épisodes ont été commandées pour le moment.
