Having portrayed Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune trilogy, Timothée Chalamet is set to join more stars in his next film.
2026 will mark the end of a chapter in Timothée Chalamet’s career as Dune: Part Three will close Villeneuve’s desert-saga where he has played Paul Atréides since 2021. Naturally, people wondered what the next project for Chalamet would look like after such a desert-drenched epic. And the Franco-American actor has dipped into a wide range of roles in recent years.
Between the mega-hit Wonka (in which he will return for the sequel), the cannibalistic Bones & All, the musical biopic A Perfect Stranger (where he played Bob Dylan) and the wild ride of Marty Supreme – for which he nearly snagged the Best Actor Oscar before being edged out by Michael B. Jordan in Sinners –, Timothée Chalamet can basically play anything, and he surely has a ton of Hollywood offers on the table. However, the actor’s next project could well surprise us.
Chalamet Takes On Space
The Illumination studio has indeed announced its next film after Minions and Monsters, and it is slated to be titled Not Alone. The cast will include Timothée Chalamet and, beside him, Selena Gomez, with whom he previously shared the screen in A Rainy Day in New York (Woody Allen, 2019). Far from the Parisian streets, the two actors will reunite in an animated sci‑fi feature.
The story will follow Joe (Timothée Chalamet) and Fran (Selena Gomez). The former is a solitary mechanic and the latter a brilliant astrobotanist. They join forces to build a revolutionary, eco-friendly rocket that runs on plant-based fuel. As a romance develops between the two, a trio of aliens—Dunk, Welly and Shirm—move in with Joe to escape agent Zandro who is pursuing them. For the three, there is only one path to survival: seize this new rocket.
This isn’t Chalamet’s first foray into voice work for an animated feature. In 2022, he voiced Jimmy, a drug dealer and friend to Jabari, a rising artist who struggles to find love in Entergalactic. Released directly on Netflix, the film accompanied the rapper Kid Cudi’s eponymous album.
The United States release date for Not Alone has been set for April 2027, but no release date has been announced yet for France. In the meantime, audiences can still catch Timothée Chalamet in Dune: Part Three on December 16, 2026, while Illumination’s Minions and Monsters hits theaters as early as June 24.
