When there’s more, there’s more. The zombies are making a heavy comeback in The Walking Dead : Dead City season 3. A first trailer for the spin-off has just been released.
The Walking Dead continues to haunt your screens long after its 11-season run. In fact, the franchise has since expanded into no fewer than six spin-offs (for better or worse). While some of these world-building extensions wrapped up quickly, others keep marching on and happily stacking seasons like The Walking Dead : Dead City.
The two initial seasons from showrunner and creator Eli Jorne aired in 2023 and 2025. They laid out the stakes for the characters played by Lauren Cohan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Gaius Charles, and Željko Ivanek as they fight to survive, all with a dash of humor. For season 3, it’s Seth Hoffman (one of the writers of the original series) stepping in to take the reins. A first look at what’s next has just been unveiled.
The Walking Dead : Dead City (or Not Quite)
For this season 3, Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) have finally put aside their differences to help build Manhattan’s first thriving community since the apocalypse. But as chaos begins to take hold in the city, they are forced to ask themselves: have they learned from their old wounds, or will their dark past spell the loss of the entire city?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character seems just as offbeat as in the prior seasons and brings a good deal of humor to this first trailer on his own. While the classic themes of The Walking Dead remain present—survival among the zombies and the sometimes difficult cooperation among humans—some scenes offer a bit of levity amid the madness.
The cast is expanding with the addition of actors Aimee Garcia (Dexter, Lucifer), Jimmi Simpson (House of Cards) and Raúl Castillo (Looking). To learn more about their roles, you’ll have to tune in to the third season of The Walking Dead : Dead City, which will air on AMC starting July 26, 2026 in the United States. At the moment, no release date has been announced for France. But the first two seasons were quickly available on Ciné+ OCS.
