Ciné+ OCS has finally announced the exact date when Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Dead City will hit our screens.
Of all the The Walking Dead spin-offs, Dead City is starting to carve out its own space. When it premiered in 2023, it took on the delicate challenge of telling the duo adventures of Maggie and Negan (played by Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan), two sworn enemies who are forced to team up to save Maggie’s son.
Their quests lead them into a battered New York that’s as zombie-infested as the rest of the world, but serves as a more urban and colorful backdrop than the franchise has typically offered. The shift is not unwelcome; the spin-off has stood out for its lighter tone and for zombie-kills that are playful and inventive, even if a portion of the audience still struggles to accept Maggie gradually becoming the best friend of the man who carried out one of the love of her life’s most devastating moments on sight.
Still, a third season of the series created by Eli Jorné is about to land, and we finally know exactly when.
The Walking Dead: Dead City arrives very, very soon
Fans of The Walking Dead will have plenty to sink their teeth into this summer, because Season 3 of Dead City will arrive on Ciné+ OCS on July 27, i.e., about twenty days from now as this is written. It will run through September 14, giving fans time to swallow the back-to-school pill. As usual, it will air the day after the U.S. broadcast.
At this point, it remains unknown whether the series will get a Season 4; anything could happen in these upcoming episodes, including the death of one of the protagonists (will Maggie finally administer justice herself, yes or no? Unless destiny ends up punishing Negan without the heroine having to compromise morally). This third season, like the previous one, will consist of 8 episodes of around 50 minutes each, whereas the first season had only six.
Die-hard fans of the The Walking Dead universe will have to cling to this news to keep tabs on their post-apocalyptic world, since, for now, there’s no announced air date for the fourth and final season of Daryl Dixon, the ongoing The Ones Who Live with Rick and Michonne has not been renewed for a second season, and there’s no word on a potential continuation of Tales of the Walking Dead.
In short, a lot rests on Maggie and Negan, and we’re eager to see how they’ll honor that dynamic. So tune in to Ciné+ OCS starting July 27.
