Screen Large is back from the Cannes Film Festival 2026. The chance to debrief what we saw in the new episodes of our podcast.
What should we take away from Cannes 2026? Perhaps the unsettling dimension of a global cinema haunted by wars of the past that resurface in its rearview mirror (Our Salvation, Coward, Moulin) and by those of the present (Minotaur), at a moment when a cultural clash makes any form of communication nearly impossible. This is, at least, what emerges from the Palme d’Or awarded to Fjord by Cristian Mungiu, a film that encapsulates the political questions of this edition.
As always, Cannes offers not just a magical interlude for cinephiles, but the marathon of screenings and the intense caffeine boost between two article-typing sessions inevitably leads to connecting the films, especially since many will help shape the near future of cinema in the months ahead. Fresh off the Croisette, Antoine and Alexandre take the opportunity to debrief this new round of cinema bingeing in two episodes of our podcast La Réu d’Écran Large (the second episode will be available starting Thursday, June 4).
In addition to revisiting the jury’s prize list led by Park Chan-wook, the two sleep-deprived co-hosts dissect the motifs that appeared across a sizable majority of the films, while also detailing their favorite moments and their rants.
The Réu’ d’Écran Large is available on Acast and on all listening and streaming platforms, for better or for worse.
