Now You See Me 4: Jesse Eisenberg Really Wants a Sequel to the Now You See Me Franchise

After the recent (and unnecessary) Now You See Me 3, actor Jesse Eisenberg is already set to return for a fourth installment.

Since 2022, Jesse Eisenberg has been building a directing career that’s off to a strong start, with his first two features, When You Finish Saving the World (released direct-to-VOD in France) and A Real Pain (released in 2025), drawing solid critical praise – particularly the latter. That project even earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

He does not neglect his acting career, either, having notably starred in A Real Pain. Recently, he has also reprised his magician role in the Now You See Me franchise. However, this new Now You See Me 3 has shown signs of fatigue: beyond its lukewarm reception, it is the least successful of the three at the worldwide box office with about $243 million against a $90 million budget. But that’s not enough to stop him from wanting to reunite with Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, and the rest of the crew for a Now You See Me 4.

Now You See Them and Unstoppable

In an interview with the trade publication The Wrap, Jesse Eisenberg explained why the character Daniel Atlas in Now You See Me was his favorite role :

“Honestly, I dream of making Now You See Me 4 more than anything else.” “I’ve never felt as happy as I do playing this character. Usually I play downbeat, depressing types, which drags me down too, but by embodying this confident, arrogant magician, I walk off every day thinking: ‘That was amazing!’ It’s the only character where I can stand tall and wear nice clothes. It’s my haven.”

And you can see why, especially when you consider his decision not to reprise the role of Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Reckoning, the sequel to The Social Network, a surprising choice since David Fincher’s film still earned him Oscar and Golden Globes nominations in 2011. But rest assured, Jesse Eisenberg will undoubtedly return to his favorite character; Lionsgate has already announced the development of Now You See Me 4 during CinemaCon 2026.

While awaiting the next chapter of Jesse Eisenberg’s adventures in magic and illusion, you’ll see him return as a director, screenwriter, composer, and actor in his upcoming film, The Debut, for which no release date has been announced.
