New Netflix Movies and TV Shows to Watch, June 19–25, 2026

Netflix releases a large number of films and series into its catalog each week, often going unnoticed or without official announcements from the platform. Écran Large takes a look at the new titles Netflix added from June 19 to June 25, 2026, across films and series in a non-exhaustive list.

Which films and series should you not miss this week on the streaming platform?

Lisa’s Destiny

  • Already available
  • Running time: 366 episodes, each about 24 minutes

What’s it about? Lisa, a young woman self-conscious about her appearance, lands a job in fashion and falls for her very arrogant boss.

Why should you watch it? Because it’s a cult classic, quite simply. At least that’s how many people feel (yes, at least one person on this staff). This German series from 2005 inevitably echoes The Devil Wears Prada, which came out a year later. It was also adapted in the United States under the title Ugly Betty, if anyone needed a reference.

It’s ideal for those who want an old-school romcom with more than 300 episodes, full of clichés and love dilemmas: who will she choose between the handsome David and the less handsome Renaud? Tense suspense. If you must, an alternate ending is also available to skip the ending that’s less popular.

In the Hand of Dante

  • On Netflix on June 25
  • Running time: 2h 33m

What’s it about? A writer helps a criminal steal the original manuscript of The Divine Comedy by Dante, while a parallel narrative follows the poem’s creation by the 14th-century poet.

Why should you watch it? Probably because In the Hand of Dante is a total anomaly on its scale. The film had all the makings of an incredible masterpiece, with Julian Schnabel directing (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) and a star-studded cast led by Oscar Isaac, joined by Gal Gadot, Gerard Butler, John Malkovich, Franco Nero, Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino, and Jason Momoa. The problem is that the ambitions of the script don’t seem to work at all.

The dual timeline creates a narrative chaos worthy of cinema’s biggest misfires, according to critics who panned the film at its Venice premiere. And yet, after watching the trailer, it’s hard not to want to give it a try. The swing between black-and-white and color, or the lineup of rather offbeat characters, promises a wild viewing experience, flirting with a so-bad-it’s-good disaster and hell.

Avatar: The Last Airbender — Season 2

  • On Netflix on June 25
  • Running time: 7 episodes, about 45 minutes each

What’s it about? Aang must master earth to end the war. But in the Earth Kingdom, intrigue, secrets, and betrayals form a battleground of their own.

Why should you watch it? You might be tempted to skip it because the first season never quite lived up to the animated series, and we doubt Season 2 will lift the bar. That said, for fans who are deeply attached to the universe (and some of us are in that camp), this new batch of episodes might be the way to rekindle your connection with Aang and his companions… ahead of Season 3 (already ordered).

Several major cast members from Avatar: The Last Airbender will appear in Season 2, including Toph, the great Earth master. She is expected to play a central role in the plot and could help rekindle excitement with her immense powers. Could promise action scenes finally worthy of the name? Fingers crossed.
