Evil Dead Burn: Early Reviews Promise Plenty of Blood

Blood will spill in early June at multiplexes if the early buzz on Evil Dead Burn, the new installment in Sam Raimi’s saga, directed by Sébastien Vaniček (Vermines) is any guide

« Tátra, amistróbin, hazárta. Tantír, manov, mansízon hazánzobar. Sumunda ropsa, darhis haikur dunsderódza. Kanda, kanda, kanda. » If you read that line aloud, we regret to inform you that your friends may deprive you of your favorite limbs with a chainsaw in the hours to come. You only have time to dive into the first tweets aboutEvil Dead Burn, the latest chapter in the Sam Raimi horror saga from the 1980s.

The film by Sébastien Vaniček, spotted thanks to Vermines, was shown to a slice of the American press ahead of its July 8 release here. And unsurprisingly, it would not skimp on blood. A review of tweets.

Evil Dead Burn Is Not a Slow Burn

« Evil Dead Burn is nothing less than spectacular! It’s brutal, bloody and extremely entertaining! The family is ferociously up to the task and brings pure terror together! Sébastien Vaniček delivers ferocious direction! Stellar performances and an incredible story! A perfect entry in a perfect franchise! » – Frederick Nuti – BloodyDisgusting

« Evil Dead Burn wastes no time! The horror saga continues with a dirty, grimy kid, crazy and exceptionally satisfying. The subtext hits hard with sequences that had me squealing with both delight and horror. However, it corkscrews. If you thought the cheese grater of Evil Dead Rise was brutal, you ain’t seen nothing yet with this film. » – Hunter Bolding – That Hollywood

« Evil Dead Burn is gloriously mean and violently enough to become genuinely shocking. It doesn’t stray from the franchise formula, but its black humor, its R rating [restricted in the United States], plus certain long takes and camera moves give it real personality. I winced, but I had a blast.» – Peter Gray – The AU Review

Evil Dead Burn

« Evil Dead Burn is seriously mean and insanely crazy. It’s nightmare fuel that drops jaws and leaves no respite. The director Sébastien Vaniček blasts through with a dark, disturbed, palpable vision that doesn’t hold back. Also, there’s a post-credits scene you won’t want to miss! » – Simon Thompson – Los Angeles Times

« Mean, dirty, and possibly the most brutal film in the saga? That’s Evil Dead Burn, baby! Sébastien Vaniček brings a touch of New French Extremity to the Deadites, which lands emotionally and physically. His twisted sense of humor makes it the perfect new member of the family.» – Bill Bria – SlashFilm

EVil Dead Burn

« The Evil Dead Burn franchise keeps thriving. Evil Dead Burn is fantastic! Director Sébastien Vaniček is an absolute ace behind the camera. He embraces the traditional Evil Dead style, then packs the film with brutally and creatively brutal set pieces, each one a total banger. EACH OF THEM. » – Perri Nemiroff – Collider

« Evil Dead Burn slays. It’s on the level with Evil Dead Rise for me. Nonstop gore, filthy chaos, and scenes that had every seat laughing or wincing. More than once I asked myself, ‘How the hell is this rated R?’ » – Brad – Dread Central

That’s enough of the overuse of the word “mean” and its synonyms, fairly predictable. We’re repeating ourselves, but screenings like these are high-stakes events for the studios, so audiences are carefully vetted and reviews must be taken with a grain of salt. Or with corkscrews in this case. Co-written by Florent Bernard, Evil Dead Burn will put Souheila Yacoub, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, and Tandi Wright through hell on July 8, 2026.
